An engagement party is a special time to be with friends and family.
Here are a few great ideas for a fun evening. More details about the activities and where to locate the items needed for the party are on my website at www.ourweddingguide.com.
Share your news by putting your engagement announcement on a puzzle. Select a picture that portrays a romantic quote or poem, a (staged) picture of the proposal, a ring box on a candle-lit table, the words Mr. and Mrs., or a car with a sign that says, "Just Married". As guests assemble the puzzle, the announcement becomes clear.
Create an Engagement Tablecloth. Invite party guests to write expressions of congratulations, with their signature on a keepsake tablecloth. Display the tablecloth at your wedding and at anniversary gatherings.
Host a charming picnic in a scenic garden or park. Provide picnic blankets filled with gourmet snacks and refreshing beverages. Inside one of the picnic baskets is an envelope. Inside it says, “Congratulations.” Let those gathered guess why congratulations are in order.
It's fun to ask the ladies to wear brimmed hats, and the gentlemen to wear paperboy or fedora hats.
Plan a wine and cheese event. Hire a sommelier to guide guests through a selection of wines paired with artisanal cheeses. Make the engagement announcement by having one special bottle labeled, Mr. & Mrs., or with a picture of the proposal. It would be fun to have your guests suggest a name for the wine.
Be sure to check local fire ordinances first. Celebrate with a beach bonfire party or at a local hotel that has a fire pit. Provide sparklers for everyone to hold while you make the big announcement of your engagement.
These ideas promise to create a joyful and memorable occasion that sets the tone for your upcoming wedding celebrations.
